iPhone App

An customized iPhone app would be very nice. The current mobile site could use some sprucing up in any case.

Finicity is passionately committed to helping customers make better spending decisions anywhere, anytime, and on any device. To coin a phrase, we are striving to provide you with “Just in Time Information” that helps you reach your financial goals with as little effort from you as possible. To accomplish this vision, Finicity services must be available from any Desktop or Mobile computer and any internet “thing.” Each year we will see a plethora of new internet-enabled “things,” built on different operating systems, delivered through different networks, and presented in different ways. For us to try and follow the trends and build client solutions for each of these new trends is difficult… so we have decided to deliver a solution that will enable all of these, but bound our internal software client development to a few key platforms.

We are very excited to pre-announce to the UserVoice forum the development of an API and the Finicity Software Partner Program. This has not been announced via the newswire because we don’t have a web site up and are really only in the beginning stages of creating our API and our software partner strategy. We do, however, want you to know that we hear you (this forum works!) and know that a strategy that enables other software developers to build and sell (or give away) apps that leverage our services is a good move for Finicity.

So if you have an interest in building a Finicity Money Manager app for mobile devices (iPhone, Android, Symbian, Windows Mobile, Palm, Linux…) or for one of the social networks (Facebook, MySpace, Linkedin…) or one of the portals (iGoogle, My Yahoo!…), or for any other internet device that we haven’t even thought of (e-purse, e-refrigerator…), please send an email to appnetwork at finicity.com. We will begin a dialogue with select developers and walk through the formalities of a partnership with us.

This thread started about 1 year ago and the idea of an iphone app was put on hold because the iphone was so new. It's time to reconsider the idea now. The iphone and ipod touch have moved beyond being things, to being somthing more--devices that many people carry everywhere everyday.

I don't care how it gets done or who makes it, but someone please get a nice iPhone app out there that supports mvelopes.

If you are looking at an "App" instead of a spruced up mobile website, then an App for Google's Android would be nice as well, since that will be the big new operating system for all the major carrier's iPhone-immitators

I would love to see an app that actually works with the iPhone. I use the site all of the time and would love to use it on my phone!

I'm evaluating too. An iPhone app that both my wife and I could use on our phones could really make the difference.

I'm currently evaluating Mvelopes. The current mobile web interface is useless in my opinion. A native iPhone app or even an iPhone formatted website would seal the deal for me. It would be appreciated if you would let us know soon if you're considering either of these, and if so, when you think if would be available. Knowledge is power, but right now we're in the dark.

You cannot underestimate the power of a good iphone applications. There are online services that did not exist before their iphone application and are now huge. Many of them are not as good as mvelopes. Think of it as great advertising, not just a feature enhancement.

That being said the things that you could do with this application platform are incredible, and i cannot wait to see it.

I strongly agree that an iphone app would be amazing, and would lesson my frustration with some of the other negatives with mvelopes. I also agree that the mobile interface needs serious help. Obviously the "rememner me" bug is a pain but also we should be able to specify how many envelopes we can see in one screen. I really need more than 5!

This issue could also be solved by mvelopes providing an API to access your account information. If that happens the interface for all mobile devices could be improved by end users and we wouldn't have to wait for the incredibly slow Mvelopes release cycle. Vote up the API issue!

it's almost a joke that this isn't available yet. the amount of money we pay for Mvelopes. . . also, guaranteed enough people would START using Mvelopes just because they have an iPhone and the app is available to pay the developer(s) that would be making the app. I hate sorting through 50 transactions. I'd rather do a few at a time during the day when i have a free minute - on my iPhone

      • theshafferstheshaffers commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

I think all the people that think using Mvelopes on the iPhone should tell iPhone...if they supported Flash then you would have a solution. No custom app would be needed. You would use the same Mvelopes you use at home/work.

I Feel like I'm repeating here - but An iPhone App instead of a website - would make all the difference. I love mvelopes but I'm looking around for another application to make it easier to use with my iPhone

      • bkinnanbkinnan commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

I agree the current mobile site needs a LOT of work! I'm not sure it really needs to be an app since the the Mvelopes model is geared at being web based, but you've got to make it more usable and robust for those of us with BlackBerry's, iPhones, and other smartphones.

I would just like to see a better interface for all smart phones. I have a blackberry and my hubby has a slide. Don't just limit the interface to a iphone. Something better all around.

      • roachaustinroachaustin commented  ·   ·  Flag as inappropriate

This is an absolute necessity. I have switched over to Mvelopes from SplashMoney, & find it EXTREMELY cumbersome to use the mobile app, to the point where I often don't even bother. The app should not have to rely on logging in each time, but should be fast & quickly accessible; It could even be set up to record the data locally, then upload multiple transactions to Mvelopes later after login.

Rather than do a separate request, I'd like to add that you could build a downloadable app for all smart-phones. I have a Motorola Q9h using Windows Mobile and I'd love an app that I could enter transactions and then sync to the web. Also, I could sync down envelope balances and not even have to connect to the web to check my current budget.

I TOTALLY agree with the free for subscribers model.

Absolutely! I have been using the mobile interface, but it is horribly cumbersome compared to what a native app or even an iPhone optimized interface could do.
